Convention Center Care Specialist

Full time, working schedule varies each week based on business demands and overall coverage.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience performing general repairs
  • Must be proficient with various computer controlled systems
  • Possess proven skill in the use of basic tools required to make general and cosmetic repairs to include basic plumbing, electric, and carpentry needs
  • Ability to read, write and understand English fluently
  • Client facing position, must meet and exceed customer expectations, possess sense of urgency and communicate timely updates to clients and peers alike
  • Responsible for the overall upkeep of the Convention Center/Hotel; perform regularly scheduled operational inspections of the physical facility and facility systems; make any needed repairs/improvements to restore the facility to its original “perfect working order” condition


Sous Chef Full Time

Full time, working schedule varies each week based on business demands. Looking for an energetic Sous Chef that is up for the challenge of successfully managing a busy banquet kitchen and restaurant. This is a hands on position that requires skill in organization, timing & execution of an end product that meets and exceeds client expectations. Below lists some of the essential duties which is inclusive but not limited to:

  • Supervise personnel engaged in preparing, cooking, and serving meats, sauces, vegetables, soups, and other foods.
  • Train and work with staff to prepare, cook, and present food according to hotel standard recipes to create quality food products.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations of the Health Department and OSHA.
  • Assign specific duties to all employees under supervision for efficient kitchen operation.
  • Select, train, and supervise kitchen staff in the proper preparation of menu items.
  • Select, train, and supervise stewarding staff to ensure adherence to all company, local, and state sanitation standards.
  • Schedule culinary staff to maintain proper coverage while keeping payroll costs in line.
  • Review, revise, and approve biweekly payroll reports.
  • Review, code, and approve invoices for the kitchen and submit to Accounting.
  • Create and implement kitchen department incentive programs as needed.
  • Ensure proper receiving, storage (including temperature-setting), and rotation of food products to comply with Health Department regulations.
  • Place food orders with applicable vendors when necessary.
  • Assess employee performance by giving annual performance reviews.
  • Counsel employees through additional training and/or disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.
  • Work closely with restaurant managers to ensure a harmonious relationship.
  • Adhere to control procedures for cost and quality.
  • Monitor weekly food costs and monthly inventory.
  • Adhere to policies as defined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Restaurant Server AM Part Time

5am-11am, weekdays, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet all guests
  • Set, re-set and clean all tables/areas according to company standards
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with guests, managers and co-workers
  • Solve and recover guest issues/concerns immediately when able, report to manager asap
  • Correctly take food orders, upsell whenever possible, accurately enter into POS systems
  • Serve prepared food as rapidly and efficiently as possible, while remaining courteous and polite to the guests
  • Remain attentive to guest needs and requests throughout service
  • Process payments accurately and according to established standards
  • Polish glass, silverware, fold napkins, complete side work as assigned
  • Be knowledge-full of the menu
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • ServSafe (preferred)
  • 1+ years serving experience (preferred)
  • Must be able to stand for 5+ hours/shift.
  • Must be able to adjust work pace to business demand.
  • Must have basic math and computer skills.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and move at least 25lbs
  • Must maintain pleasant demeanor at all times
  • Great customer service
Culinary: Prep/Line CookFull Time/Part Time Culinary positions available, in both restaurant and banquet kitchens. Responsible for food preparation, execution and plating of food items. Ensure safe handling, cooking and storing of food. Responsible for overall cleanliness of the kitchens and equipment. Must work well independently, following daily prep list established by the Executive Chef. Execute fast & efficient service of all menu items, making sure cooking methods are executed properly, preparing food according to standardized recipes.

Sanitation license or Food Handler certified. Must be able to walk/stand for up to 8 hours or more, carry/move loads up to 50 pounds, move distances between hotel and convention center, have 20/20 vision with/without corrective lenses, must be able to speak and understand fluent English, handle multiple tasks at one time prioritizing needs, must be able to work in fast paced kitchen environment working well with others. This is not an exhaustive list of duties and may be changed/altered at any time.
Banquet CookFull time position, minimum 2 years in a high volume banquet kitchen. Responsible for the large volume preparation, execution and plating of soups, sauces, proteins, vegetables and other food items in the Convention Center kitchens. Ensures the safe handling, cooking and storing of food. Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the kitchens and equipment. Must work well independently, follow daily prep list established by the Executive Chef. Ensures all prep is covered, labeled, dated and properly stored at all times. Executes fast, clean and efficient service of all menu items, makes sure cooking methods are executed properly, prepares food according to standardized recipes, responsible for the prep, cooking and plating of all menu items. Ensures and monitors food product quality, appearance and freshness at all times. Executes proper cooking temperatures, holding temperatures and sanitation practices to ensure safe food handling. Completes tasks in a timely manner to ensure time management and efficiency, keeps work areas clean and sanitized at all times, safely operates all kitchen equipment, ensures all prep is ready for the following day, ensures deliveries are properly stored and goods properly rotated. Always ensures all equipment and work stations are organized, cleaned and sanitized during shift and at closing.

Security OfficerPart Time, various shifts, evening/overnight shifts available. Previous security experience preferred. Must be able to stand/walk for 8-10 hour shift, work closely with all departments & outlets maintaining security of building and guests. Must be comfortable engaging with guests that might be upset/noise complaints/ID checks.
Banquet Set-Up House AttendantFull Time and Part Time available, morning/evening shifts available. Previous meeting and event set-up experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills, ability to multi task, read/understand room set-up, be detail oriented, self-directed and work well under pressure.
Housekeeping Room AttendantsFull Time, Part Time available. Previous experience a plus but will train. Must have excellent customer service skills, be detail oriented, work in a fast paced environment, & understand brand standards in regards to a clean, inviting, restful guestroom.

Part Time, Full Time available. 1 year related service experience preferred. Must understand great guest service, be detail oriented and be able to work in a fast paced environment.
Front Desk AgentFull Time/Part Time, all 3 shifts available. Previous customer service experience in hospitality or related field preferred. Must enjoy engaging with guests and fellow co-workers alike. Position requires multi-tasking under pressure, solving and communicating issues and follow through for guest recovery. Must be guest-centric always providing outstanding service, empathy, and great energy for a positive guest experience.
Restaurant Server/BartenderFull Time/Part Time, various shifts available, morning and evening. Previous restaurant experience preferred. Exciting opportunity to join the team servicing a brand new concept restaurant that is opening within the Hotel. Applicants must possess excellent customer service skills, have the ability to multi-task, and work well under pressure.
DishwasherPart Time, morning/evening shifts available. Previous experience preferred. Must work well with the kitchen team, be self-directed and work well under pressure. Illinois State Food Handler Certificate, ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or Illinois State Food Service Sanitation License required.
Restaurant BusserPart Time, morning/evening available. 1 year restaurant service experience preferred. Must possess excellent customer service skills, work well with others, understand sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure. Ability to multi-task , self-directed and detail oriented.
Banquet Server/Bartender1 year high volume, high quality service experience preferred. Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to multi task, work well under pressure, and be customer-centric. Must be able to carry 35 lbs above the shoulder, stand walk for 8-10 hours per shift, professional appearance required. Illinois State Food Handler Certificate, ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or Illinois State Food Service Sanitation License required.
