Catering Sales ManagerThe Opportunity:

EVEN Hotel & Convention Center is looking for a dynamic, talented, client-centric Catering Sales Manager that has a proven track record of success in booking all group business. Responsible for the accurate and detailed reporting of all groups booked and exceeding specified revenue goals. Responsible for the creation of group sales contracts and consistent follow-up calls and correspondence to clients. Responsible for managing events from selling through event completion. Duties include booking, selling, planning and coordinating all special events while assuring the highest level of customer service.

Education:

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, minimum 3 years Catering Sales experience preferably in the Hospitality industry.

Reports to:

Director of Sales & Convention Services

Essential Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain strong client relations and ensure that convention specifications are communicated and executed for a successful meeting experience.

  • Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business through various efforts to maximize room revenue and meet & exceed goals

  • Develop Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s), floor plans and Group Resumes in adherence with policies & procedures.

  • Coordinate all logistics for meeting rooms including room set-up, food & beverage and audio visual equipment.

  • Drive Catering Revenues by up-selling products & services

  • Communicate with Banquets, Front Office & Kitchen in order to coordinate and monitor special convention needs.

  • Develops proposals, qualifies customers, and prepares contracts.

  • Reports product quality feedback to the Director of Convention & Catering Sales.

  • Maintains accurate, legible records and files to provide group history to ensure future and current quality service and enhance future proposals.

  • Follows all EVEN hotel & Convention Center policies and procedures on files, traces & account follow-up.

  • Ability to help change and set function space as required in an emergency. Ability to move tables and chairs if requested, assist in decorating function rooms as required.

Illinois State Food Handler Certificate, ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or Illinois State Food Service Sanitation License required.

    ControllerABOUT

    EVEN Hotel Chicago – Tinley Park Convention Center, owned and operated by The Harp Group, is searching for an experienced Financial Controller to review financial performance for a growing portfolio and monitor key metrics to improve overall performance while ensuring compliance in finance practices.

    After months of renovating the existing Holiday Inn Hotel at the Tinley Park Convention Center, full rebranding efforts are now complete. The EVEN Hotel Chicago underwent a comprehensive $10 million renovation throughout 2020.


    Connected to the 202-guest room hotel is the 120,000-square foot Tinley Park Convention Center, one of the Midwest's premier meeting and convention destinations. The expanded Convention Center has 70,000 square feet of event space to accommodate any type of event from theatrical and sporting to trade and consumer shows.


    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee and lead the Accounting Department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.

    • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.

    • Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and/or financial reporting standards.

    • Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.

    • Produce the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.

    • Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

    • Work with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.

    • File quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

    • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Two years of related hospitality accounting experience required

    • Excellent management and supervisory skills

    • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external parties

    • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software

    • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred

    • Ability to travel as needed

    Banquet Set-Up House AttendantFull Time and Part Time available, morning/evening shifts available. Previous meeting and event set-up experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills, ability to multi task, read/understand room set-up, be detail oriented, self-directed and work well under pressure.
    Banquet CookFull time position, minimum 2 years in a high volume banquet kitchen. Responsible for the large volume preparation, execution and plating of soups, sauces, proteins, vegetables and other food items in the Convention Center kitchens. Ensures the safe handling, cooking and storing of food. Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the kitchens and equipment. Must work well independently, follow daily prep list established by the Executive Chef. Ensures all prep is covered, labeled, dated and properly stored at all times. Executes fast, clean and efficient service of all menu items, makes sure cooking methods are executed properly, prepares food according to standardized recipes, responsible for the prep, cooking and plating of all menu items. Ensures and monitors food product quality, appearance and freshness at all times. Executes proper cooking temperatures, holding temperatures and sanitation practices to ensure safe food handling. Completes tasks in a timely manner to ensure time management and efficiency, keeps work areas clean and sanitized at all times, safely operates all kitchen equipment, ensures all prep is ready for the following day, ensures deliveries are properly stored and goods properly rotated. Always ensures all equipment and work stations are organized, cleaned and sanitized during shift and at closing.
    Sanitation license or Food Handler certified.     Business Transient/Group Sales Manager Full Time position, minimum 3 years sales experience preferably in the Hospitality industry. Excellent communication skills, responsible for soliciting, negotiating and booking new and repeat business through various efforts. Develop sales strategies, consistently follow up on calls and correspondence to clients. Develop proposals, contracts and enhance relationships with key individuals and businesses to increase market share. Must be able to organize time effectively, be self-directed, work well under pressure and be customer-centric. Occasional extended or flexible shifts are needed.
    Housekeeping Room AttendantsFull Time, Part Time available. Previous experience a plus but will train. Must have excellent customer service skills, be detail oriented, work in a fast paced environment, & understand brand standards in regards to a clean, inviting, restful guestroom.
    Culinary: Prep/Line CookFull Time/Part Time Culinary positions available, in both restaurant and banquet kitchens. Responsible for food preparation, execution and plating of food items. Ensure safe handling, cooking and storing of food. Responsible for overall cleanliness of the kitchens and equipment. Must work well independently, following daily prep list established by the Executive Chef. Execute fast & efficient service of all menu items, making sure cooking methods are executed properly, preparing food according to standardized recipes.

    Sanitation license or Food Handler certified. Must enjoy engaging with guests and fellow co-workers alike. Position requires multi-tasking under pressure, solving and communicating issues and follow through for guest recovery. Must be guest-centric always providing outstanding service, empathy, and great energy for a positive guest experience.
    Restaurant Server/BartenderFull Time/Part Time, various shifts available, morning and evening. Previous restaurant experience preferred. Exciting opportunity to join the team servicing a brand new concept restaurant that is opening within the Hotel. Applicants must possess excellent customer service skills, have the ability to multi-task, and work well under pressure.

    Part Time, Full Time available. 1 year related service experience preferred. Must understand great guest service, be detail oriented and be able to work in a fast paced environment.
    Restaurant BusserPart Time, morning/evening available. 1 year restaurant service experience preferred. Must possess excellent customer service skills, work well with others, understand sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure. Ability to multi-task , self-directed and detail oriented.
    DishwasherPart Time, morning/evening shifts available. Previous experience preferred. Must work well with the kitchen team, be self-directed and work well under pressure. Illinois State Food Handler Certificate, ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or Illinois State Food Service Sanitation License required.
    Security OfficerPart Time, various shifts, evening/overnight shifts available. Previous security experience preferred. Must be able to stand/walk for 8-10 hour shift, work closely with all departments & outlets maintaining security of building and guests. Must be comfortable engaging with guests that might be upset/noise complaints/ID checks.
